Multi-Region Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant

This position expands access to Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) Consultation across the state by filling regional gaps and helping ensure early childhood educators, children, and families can access support when and where it is needed. 

About the Role

The Multi-Region IECMH Consultant provides Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation across multiple regions of Oregon. The consultant will fill gaps in regional coverage, including supporting areas when a regional consultant is on leave or additional capacity is needed.

The position combines in-person consultation and statewide travel with telehealth/video consultation when appropriate. Regular driving is required, with travel of up to approximately 1,000 miles per month anticipated. 

What You'll Do

• Provide relationship-based, preventive consultation that supports the mental health and social-emotional development of infants and young children.
• Partner with early childhood educators to address relational, developmental, and behavioral concerns.
• Develop collaborative intervention strategies that educators can implement in early learning environments.
• Support programs with limited access to other consultation resources.
• Connect children and families with appropriate community resources and services when needed.
• Provide individual or group education related to social-emotional wellness, infant and early childhood development, trauma-informed care, attachment, self-care, and related topics.
• Provide IECMH Consultation through telehealth/video conferencing when appropriate.
• Respond to consultation requests submitted by parents and other professionals.
• Participate in reflective supervision and adhere to program documentation and data requirements. 

What You Bring

Education

• Master's degree in mental health, early childhood education/development, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, or another related discipline.

Credential

• Endorsed (IMH-E® or ECMH-E®) as a Family Specialist or Mental Health Specialist, or meets the criteria for one of these Endorsement categories.
• Endorsed Reflective Supervisor designation is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of two years of experience as an IECMH Consultant in early education settings.
• Experience using distance technology to provide IECMH Consultation is preferred.

Location & Travel

This is an Oregon-based, statewide traveling position, with preference for candidates who live in a central region of Oregon. Regular statewide travel is required, and travel of up to approximately 1,000 miles per month is anticipated. Approved business travel expenses, including mileage, are reimbursed according to ORIMHA guidelines. 

Contractor Information

This is a full-time independent contractor position, with an expected workload of approximately 40 hours per week. The anticipated contract term extends through June 2028.

Because this is an independent contractor position, it is not eligible for ORIMHA employee benefits such as medical/dental insurance, retirement benefits, or paid time off. The contractor must maintain insurance coverage required under the independent contractor agreement.

Final candidates will be required to complete a background check.
