TITLE: CATT Peer Greeter

REPORTS TO: CATT Program Manager

DEPARTMENT: Center for Addictions Triage and Treatment (CATT) 

 

JOB SUMMARY: The Washington County Center for Addictions Triage and Treatment (CATT) Hillsboro Recovery Center (HRC) at 5250 NE Elam Young Parkway houses a variety of community services to support people with substance use disorders and other behavioral health conditions.

The Peer Company operates the CATT peer drop-in center, a space for individuals in recovery and their friends, family and other supports to come together. Drop-in centers provide opportunities for connection, mutual support, and the development of peer networks and resources, all of which are critical to mental health and/or addiction recovery. 

The Peer Support Greeter is a trained peer support/peer wellness specialist/certified recovery mentor who will be the first point of connection when community members enter the CATT. The Peer Support Greeter provides welcome and acknowledgement to people who enter the main lobby, assists individuals experiencing minor anxiety or frustration in the lobby, and help direct individuals to onsite programs and service providers when appropriate.

The Peer Support Greeter will be able to collaborate and work in tandem with a wide variety of community partners.

Licensure/Certification: Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Peer Support Specialist (PSS)/Peer Wellness Specialist certification and/or MHACBO Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) certification is required and based on personal lived experience. Certification training and certification may be obtained within 90 days of hire. When lived experience includes addiction recovery, this position requires at least 2 years of sustained recovery.  

 

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

 

Background Check: A criminal background check will be conducted by TPC in accordance with the TPC background check policy. A criminal record does not necessarily exclude an individual from employment with TPC.

 

Pre-Hire Drug Screen: As part of TPC's commitment to fostering a safe, productive, and professional workplace, we require pre-hire drug screenings for all potential employees. The screening will be conducted in accordance with TPCs drug screening policy, as well as applicable state and federal laws.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities:  

  • Previous and/or current experience in a peer support role
  • If openly identifying as having lived experience of addiction and/or with co-occurring addiction and mental health challenges confirm having at least 2 years of being in active, sustained recovery
  • Understands the effect of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of individual needs as well as the principles of recovery, self-direction, and trauma-informed care
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required along with a basic understanding of other relevant technology and data collection platforms. 
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance required. Have reliable transportation preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and manage competing objectives
  • Demonstrated success working effectively as part of a diverse, collaborative team and with promoting inclusion and cultural humility and responsiveness
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a high level of peer support value-based professional standards with participants, staff, and HRC community partners
  • Being bilingual in English and Spanish is helpful, but not required 

 

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Greet and assist visitors and staff as needed, including providing information and supporting individuals to the appropriate suite
  • Answers phone calls and direct calls to appropriate parties and/or messages
  • Assess inquiries, questions and concerns, ensuring that the correct person is contacted to assist program participants as soon as possible
  • Participates in regular supervision sessions
  • Act as liaison and collaborate with other CATT HRC service providers
  • Attend meetings as applicable to gain knowledge of CATT HRS services
  • Keeps the Peer Support Greeter desk area clean and neat
  • Acts as a positive role model for individuals being served by modeling their own path to wellness and recovery
  • Completes special projects as assigned
  • Respects and honors a person’s individual rights
  • Demonstrates professional boundaries and ethics
  • Adheres to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPAA requirements
