Cielo Treatment Center is a co-occurring disorders treatment facility specializing in culturally informed care for young adults, Indigenous clients, and LGBTQ+ individuals. We provide a supportive environment where interns can gain hands-on experience, develop clinical skills, and contribute to meaningful recovery work.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Master’s Level Mental Health Therapist Intern to join our team. This internship provides the opportunity to work with clients experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges while gaining supervision toward licensure. Interns will work under the guidance of licensed clinicians and have the opportunity to gain experience in culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions under supervision

  • Participate in clinical assessments, treatment planning, and progress documentation

  • Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and house managers to support integrated care

  • Attend supervision, team meetings, and training sessions

  • Support culturally informed and inclusive practices for all clients

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Master’s program in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field

  • Interest in co-occurring disorders and recovery-oriented care

  • Demonstrated cultural competency and experience working with LGBTQ+ and/or Indigenous populations preferred

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills

  • Ability to manage time effectively and prepare for client sessions

Internship Details:

  • $400 per month stipend

  • Clinical supervision provided for licensure requirements

  • Opportunities available through Portland State University (PSU) and flexibility to coordinate with many online schools, with adequate time given for session set-up and preparation

  • Hands-on experience with a diverse client population in a supportive, professional environment
