Our mission is to provide- in collaboration with individuals, communities, and systems- comprehensive services that support recovery, well-being, and resilience. These services include peer mentoring, recovery community centers, housing, mental health care, and substance use treatment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Recovery Mentor is responsible for providing peer mentoring services to clients aged 14-17, and supporting the needs of the Youth Community Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Services Delivery
• Support clients in developing and increasing their recovery capital. 
• Support clients in navigating services, systems and resources that support their recovery. 
• Use a variety of communication techniques, including motivational interviewing, to support clients in developing and achieving individual goals. 
• Help clients develop a recovery identity. 
• Utilize harm reduction strategies to help clients improve their overall wellness. 
• Manage client caseloads effectively and equitably. 
• Provide services to clients professionally, ethically, and within 4D Recovery best-practices. 
• Client Engagement
• Effectively facilitate multiple clients’ services in group engagement settings.
• Perform outreach as needed to engage new clients. 
• Support client transportation as needed.
• Documentation
• Responsible for documenting all client service activities within the required time frame (24 hours).
• Other Job Duties 
• Attend supervision and agency meetings as directed. 
• Assist with other recovery support services as directed. 
• This position may require handling and disposal of needles as part of clean-up duties, necessitating adherence to proper safety protocols to mitigate potential risks and ensure a safe working environment.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Youth Program Director. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

1. This position typically requires a High School Diploma/GED. 
2. 2+ years of continuous abstinence from all forms of drugs and alcohol, except those prescribed by a doctor (excluding marijuana based on federal laws). Two years in recovery is required per MHACBO specifications.
3. This position requires a valid driver’s license for state of residency and a driving record permitting coverage under the corporate liability policy.  If driving a personal vehicle for work purposes, must also have and maintain personal auto liability coverage and complete a vehicle safety inspection. All employees driving for work purposes, regardless of whether driving a personal or agency vehicle, must complete the agency’s driving approval process before they drive for work.
4. Must be a Certified Recovery Mentor via MHACBO. 
5. 1+ year(s) working with adolescents/transition age youth.
6. 1+ year(s) working in substance use treatment or recovery services.
7. Lived experience in addiction and/or recovery as an adolescent.
8. Must be able to pass a background check with no criminal charges. Exceptions may be made for possession of controlled substances and/or petty theft.
9. Understanding of multiple pathways to recovery and recovery support services.
10. Ability to work independently and as a team player.
11. Able to establish and maintain professional boundaries while providing supportive services and building trusting relationships with clients, staff and community partners.
12. Excellent communication, trauma-informed approach and conflict resolution skills.
13. Well-developed documentation skills and a strong commitment to quality management; ability to write accurate and concise reports while meeting tight deadlines.
14. Functional ability with Google Suite programs including: GMail, GDrive, GCalendar, GDocs, etc.
15. Must be dependable, flexible and punctual, and exhibit strong time management skills.
16. Able to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing. Able to clearly articulate information to people of varying cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.
17. Able to problem solve and develop creative approaches.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. 2+ years experience working with minority communities, especially transition age youth demographics, and knowledge of the current disparities that certain communities of service users may face more broadly in society.
2. Familiarity with QPR and crisis intervention.
