The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Naturopath provides psychiatric care to a population of low-income adults with a broad range of physical, mental, behavioral, and social conditions. The responsibilities include psychiatric evaluation of patients, prescribing and managing medications, coordinating care with other staff within VOAOR's continuum of treatment programs (Men's and Women's Residential Center and Outpatient Behavioral Health Services). In addition to these duties, this position will also work closely with the Medical Director who will develop appropriate policies and protocols that support the delivery of psychiatric assessment and prescribing services and physical health services that support the clinical programs. The PNP/ND will work closely with the clinical teams and be available for team consultation and to provide training. In the absence of the Medical Director, this position will provide coverage.

Education, Training and Experience:

• Active PNP or ND license in the State of Oregon is
• Must have full prescriptive powers in Oregon with a DEA
• Knowledge and experience providing Psychiatric services to chronically vulnerable, high needs populations who are experiencing complex substance use and co-occurring disorders, mental health issues, chronic health conditions, involvement in the criminal justice system and homelessness
• Experience with behavioral and/or physical health service delivery systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care including but not limited to: psychiatric evaluation, medication management, mental health counseling, psychoeducation, and
• Refer clients for laboratory or physical health services if needed.
• Management of mental health and substance use disorders including prescription of medications as
• Facilitate Mental Health and Medication Management Groups as needed.
• Collaborate and consult with members of the interdisciplinary team and community resources to assist with and/or coordinate the delivery of services to clients with mental health
• Provide comprehensive psychiatric consultation to qualified mental health professionals to ensure appropriate diagnostic criteria are met and evidenced-based practices are utilized.
• Review treatment plans and individual interventions to ensure medical necessity of provision of services, and appropriate
• Meet standards for timely documentation and perform data entry related to client assessment, client care, community referrals and quality indicators in the electronic record according to established
• Work with Program Directors and agency administrators to ensure legal compliance with human resources, HIPAA, and OSHA

Supervisory: This position is not responsible for supervising other employees. May supervise and provide training to nursing students, naturopathic students and other interns.

Schedule: This is a part time position, 30 hours/week, with flexibility related to the schedule given the organization’s expanding needs.
